Over the past week I have been prepping my sister on her SLE presentation. During the process of listening her talk I have learned something special and that is self-acceptance. I accept myself now but what will I think of myself when I am older. I want to be prepared for the future. I wish I could remember this blog for the rest of my life and take it where ever I go. Unfortunately I don't know what will happen to these blogs. Sometimes I see my sister complain about how she looks even though she looks fine. I was wondering, will I accept myself later on in life. My answer is, YES! I may not remember when I wrote this but I sure know I'm gonna like myself when I'm older. I am going to learn from this. What you learn you won't forget. She talked about self acceptance, my sister said something that struck me. Why is self acceptance so hard? I thought this over to myself. Why is it so hard? I finally came to a conclusion, which was very obvious. We are constantly being bombarded with billboard,TV,Magazines, and the radio talking about "How to get a bikini body". It is the only thing we see. We she photoshopped people and feel bad about ourselves. We spend thousands or millions on cosmetic surgery. Why can't we be our own person and not follow are these beauty standards. We need to make a change, But When?

What I learned this week was to be nice to one another. My mom's friend stayed with her kids at out house for 3 days because of her mother-in-law. It was at this where she was actually crying. I learned to never get someone to actually cry. I was how unhappy she was and this upset me. She is a very nice lady and I don't know why this spasific someone would do this to her. I finally went up to her to cheer her up. She felt better. After a while she decided to stay one night at our house. Of course we said yes to release some stress off her shoulders. She is such a sweet lady I as confused about why this lady would make her so upset. I want to get back to the topic on why we as humans should be nice to one another. I beleive this because we don't know what that person is going through at the moment. We don't know all the facts so why make life a little bit harder for them. Another reason is because it will destroy the peace between the the people. There is more than one peaceful way to creat harmony and peace. A few of those ways is to talk it out. Talking is a great rewarding way to end violence. Apologizing is gold! Apologizing is a way to show your sincerity. This is my opinion on kindness.

Today I learned there could similarities between something so different. I guess this would be a good lesson so we don't judge. I know what you might be thinking "judge what"? Well I guess if one says that th would never get along with someone, they might have something in common. In a way this clicks. I guess this is what I've learned is not to judge so quickly and give a person a chance. I had a friend named coral. Me and my friend ,Sarah, didn't like her. Soon we all became best friends. The three of us pull have sleep overs and invite each other everywhere end to each other's house. Now I know never to criticize so one if I don't know them. Maybe Sarah still didn't like her but im pretty sure she got used to coral being around her and such. This is somthing important I think everyone should keep in mind and not forget thought out our life time. But I know for sure I'm not going to make that mistake again. What I learned from this is people will say things about other people. This doesn't mean we have to believe them.

This week I learned something new and that was to be thankful. I learned this through the book Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper. It is about a little girl named Melody with cerebral palsy. She was so bright and brilliant but could not be heard. She rememberd everything that has ever happend yet could not share them. I could say that I have worried about meaningless things where there is kids out there with horrible problems. I can't imagine having so much to say without being able to say it. I hate the feeling when I want to say something but no one is listening. People like melody or people that have some sort of diorder that disables them to do something probably struggle a lot. As a person with all my senses and able to do anything freely I wouldn't know how they feel. We stare at them when they are trying to communicate. If we are annoyed we can stop who or what is bothering us. People like melody can not, they their body doesn't let them. This is why they kick and scream. In a way we take these blessings for granted. We never sit outside and recognize the beauty that nature has to share. Instead we sit inside. We mourn when there is rain. We whine when the sunlight is in out faces. We do this, when someone like Melody wishes just wishes to see what we are annoyed at.We do all this but, we never appreciate what wonders we see.

Yesterday was a new experience. We went to the Hunnington Library. We got the opportunity to see paintings that were painted years back. The cottage door, it was something that really stuck out to me and that was, how it was different. Well How was it different you ask. Well you see, everywhere you'd look around you'd see portraits of people. This painting was different. It used mellow colors and it used contrast (which made things pop out). This painting was representing childhood. Our tour guide explained this to us. I thought this was very important because back then they use to just send their kids off to be raised by someone else. The Cottage Door showed six kids living in small poor cottage. It was small and they were probably poor but they were happy. They were happy because they spent time with each other. The mother sat and spent time with her children. This painting went against the odds and thought out of the box. At the time the usual thing was to send you kid off but this showed the qualities of a good childhood. Another moral this painting showed was money can't buy happiness because you see them with so little yet they we so filled with joy. If they were sad the painter would have somehow conveyed that in the painting. Their faces were content. People think that money can but you happiness but in reality it really just brings greed and "power". I also loved the painting just because it was so beautiful it stuck out from the whole entire room. After a long day our class really learned something in a cool and exciting way.

What I learned this week
Be determined
This week we read a book by the title of " Bridge to Terabitha" from reading this it taught me to be determined. The author demonstrates this is the book by showing the persistent attitude of the main character Jess. He wants to be the fastest runner in the 5th grade. To train himself he ran everyday. To me that is a big task to run every morning everyday. We should all be like Jess. If the goal of someone is really important then they will find a way to achieve it. Further more, into the book, Jess is being teased by a boy named Gary. Gary constantly is bringing Jess down by telling him he cannot be the fastest. Which brings me to my next point, Jess didn't let some other person's attitude bring him down. He looks forward to winning and doesn't let the harsh words change his opinion. This is something to carry throughout life. There will be times when someone will tell you, you can't do something. But the reality of it is, they are just negative beings that don't want you to go beyond your limits. If we actually believe we could achieve our goal, they why can't we. Jess is a very good role model. Sooner or later he has lost his hope. Not by the words but, by someone that is faster than him. This shows weakness. We can't let such little things get in the way of what one loves. All in all Jess did demonstrate a strong plate form that can't be broken down.

What I learned this a week
Procrastination
We all tend to procrastinate and sadly it doesn't take us anywhere. I want to improve in that area. I am not helping myself by doing so. Take our book report as an example I could have finished it a day before it was due so I wouldn't stress out. We all has plenty of time but, some choose to leave it to the last minute. I didn't really leave it to the last minute I had already completed half of it but, it still took pretty long. If I had chosen to finish more than half it would have just took about an hour. From this experience I have not only grown but learned. I think we all have grown a little from this. What I mean by learned is now that some of the class has experienced procrastination we know better in the future. This was a great learning opportunity. Another think I'd like to add is, that we should all be a little more responsible. I think responsible links up to procrastination because you need to be responsible in order not to procrastinate. Which brings me to my next point, responsibility. Responsibility means to finish what you've started, to get things done, and lastly to get things done on time. This is important to me because I want to grow in that area I have trouble with that sometimes. I need to straighten up because things won't get done on their own. This trimester (even though we're in the middle) I want to show I've learned something and grown from it. I want to take responsibility for myself. All things considered this is what I have learned from the past week

What I learned from "Hoas"
The past two months or so, we read a book called Heart of a Samurai. It taught me a valuable lesson. It taught me never disrespect another race. How I could answer the question, what did it teach me, varies. Not only did it teach me not to disrespect another culture but it taught me change can be good. Sometimes people perceive change to be bad but, it's not, it gives you many opportunities to be great. In some cases yes, change can be bad. In this case Manjiro, the main character, takes hold of new opportunities and uses them as a little lift. Which brings me to my next point, of don't judge a book by its cover. Manjiro judges the so called barbarians and, ends up thinking of them as family. This comes to show why we shouldn't judge someone we haven't gotten to know yet. If we don't know their background, their personality, their character, and their temper then who are we to judge. There is one more thing that this taught me and that is to believe in myself and never underestimate my abilities. How can I say "I can't" if I've never tried. I shouldn't let other people's words affect mean deep moving on. What I would consider to be a theme is don't judge someone you don't know along with take your opportunities and let them lift you high.

What I learned this week is to treat everyone with respect. This being is because we read a book "The First Day" it had a good moral. It taught me to never react negatively to another race. This is important to me because in order to have a peaceful world we need to get along. This would not be possible if everyone was racist. It showed how ignorant we come to sound if we are that way. In regards as to what I thought of the book, it was very entertaining and had a good theme to it. I would say the theme is treat everyone equally.
